Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior Superintendent to oversee on-site construction operations for large-scale commercial, industrial, and public works projects. The Senior Superintendent will be responsible for managing field activities, maintaining project schedules, enforcing safety standards, and ensuring quality control. This role requires strong leadership, deep technical construction expertise, and the ability to coordinate subcontractors and vendors effectively to deliver projects on time and within budget.
Key Responsibilities: On-Site Construction Leadership:
  • Oversee daily field operations, ensuring adherence to project plans, schedules, and safety standards.
  • Direct subcontractors, suppliers, and field personnel, ensuring productivity and efficiency.
  • Develop and implement site logistics plans to optimize workflow and minimize disruptions.
  • Work closely with Project Managers, Engineers, and Clients to align construction activities with project goals.
Scheduling & Project Execution:
  • Maintain and update construction schedules, ensuring that all project milestones are met.
  • Identify potential delays and risks, working with project teams to implement corrective actions.
  • Lead daily and weekly site meetings with subcontractors and stakeholders to review progress and resolve issues.
  • Ensure timely coordination of material deliveries, inspections, and work sequencing.
Safety & Compliance:
  • Enforce OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and job-site best practices to ensure a zero-incident workplace.
  • Conduct daily safety meetings, toolbox talks, and safety audits to maintain a culture of safety excellence.
  • Ensure all personnel and subcontractors follow site-specific safety requirements.
Quality Control & Inspections:
  • Perform regular quality control inspections to ensure compliance with project specifications.
  • Work with project engineers and quality control teams to verify materials, installations, and finishes.
  • Identify and resolve non-conforming work or deficiencies to avoid costly rework.
Client & Stakeholder Communication:
  • Serve as the primary on-site representative, maintaining strong relationships with clients, architects, engineers, and inspectors.
  • Communicate project updates, schedule changes, and challenges to stakeholders in a professional and timely manner.
  • Assist with RFIs, change orders, and other project documentation as needed.
Problem-Solving & Conflict Resolution:
  • Identify and resolve on-site challenges quickly, ensuring minimal disruptions to workflow.
  • Provide leadership and direction to field teams, subcontractors, and vendors.
  • Work closely with the Project Manager to anticipate and address potential risks.
Qualifications: Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field (preferred) OR equivalent field experience.
  • 10+ years of experience in commercial construction, with at least 5 years as a Superintendent.
  • Proven experience managing ground-up, industrial, public works, healthcare, or large-scale commercial projects.
Technical Skills:
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and building codes.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and project schedules.
  • Proficiency in Procore, PlanGrid, Bluebeam, Microsoft Project, and scheduling software.
Leadership & Communication:
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong ability to lead teams, coordinate subcontractors, and enforce accountability.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills for reporting and stakeholder engagement.
