Job Summary:We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented
Safety Engineer to join our construction team. The Safety Engineer will play a vital role in developing, implementing, and monitoring safety protocols to ensure compliance with regulations and create a safe working environment. This position requires a strong understanding of construction safety standards, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with teams to mitigate risks and ensure project success.
Key Responsibilities: - Safety Program Implementation:
- Develop, implement, and maintain site-specific safety plans and programs to align with company policies and OSHA regulations.
- Ensure all safety protocols are effectively communicated to employees, subcontractors, and stakeholders.
- Assist in the creation and updating of safety procedures, training materials, and manuals.
- Site Inspections and Risk Assessment:
- Conduct regular safety inspections of construction sites to identify and mitigate hazards.
- Perform risk assessments and recommend control measures to eliminate or minimize risks.
- Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to safety protocols.
- Incident Investigation and Reporting:
- Investigate accidents, near-misses, and unsafe conditions, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions.
- Prepare and submit detailed reports on incidents, including preventive measures and lessons learned.
- Maintain accurate records of safety-related activities, inspections, and incidents.
- Training and Education:
- Conduct safety training sessions, toolbox talks, and workshops for employees and subcontractors.
- Ensure all personnel are aware of site-specific safety requirements and emergency procedures.
- Promote a culture of safety awareness and continuous improvement.
- Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal safety regulations, including OSHA standards.
- Stay updated on changes to safety regulations and best practices, incorporating them into company policies.
- Support the preparation for and management of regulatory inspections and audits.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with project managers, superintendents, and subcontractors to address safety concerns and implement corrective actions.
- Serve as a resource for safety-related questions and guidance.
- Participate in project meetings to provide updates on safety performance and initiatives.
Qualifications: - Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Construction Management, or a related field.
- 2-5 years of experience in construction safety or a related role.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, construction safety standards, and risk management principles.
- Proficiency in safety management software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
