Safety Engineer

Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Safety Engineer to join our construction team. The Safety Engineer will play a vital role in developing, implementing, and monitoring safety protocols to ensure compliance with regulations and create a safe working environment. This position requires a strong understanding of construction safety standards, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with teams to mitigate risks and ensure project success.
Key Responsibilities:
  1. Safety Program Implementation:
    • Develop, implement, and maintain site-specific safety plans and programs to align with company policies and OSHA regulations.
    • Ensure all safety protocols are effectively communicated to employees, subcontractors, and stakeholders.
    • Assist in the creation and updating of safety procedures, training materials, and manuals.
  2. Site Inspections and Risk Assessment:
    • Conduct regular safety inspections of construction sites to identify and mitigate hazards.
    • Perform risk assessments and recommend control measures to eliminate or minimize risks.
    • Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to safety protocols.
  3. Incident Investigation and Reporting:
    • Investigate accidents, near-misses, and unsafe conditions, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions.
    • Prepare and submit detailed reports on incidents, including preventive measures and lessons learned.
    • Maintain accurate records of safety-related activities, inspections, and incidents.
  4. Training and Education:
    • Conduct safety training sessions, toolbox talks, and workshops for employees and subcontractors.
    • Ensure all personnel are aware of site-specific safety requirements and emergency procedures.
    • Promote a culture of safety awareness and continuous improvement.
  5. Regulatory Compliance:
    • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal safety regulations, including OSHA standards.
    • Stay updated on changes to safety regulations and best practices, incorporating them into company policies.
    • Support the preparation for and management of regulatory inspections and audits.
  6. Collaboration and Communication:
    • Work closely with project managers, superintendents, and subcontractors to address safety concerns and implement corrective actions.
    • Serve as a resource for safety-related questions and guidance.
    • Participate in project meetings to provide updates on safety performance and initiatives.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • 2-5 years of experience in construction safety or a related role.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, construction safety standards, and risk management principles.
  • Proficiency in safety management software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
