Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Civil Estimator to join our construction team. The Civil Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for civil construction projects, including site development, infrastructure, and roadworks. This role requires a deep understanding of civil construction processes, excellent math and analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with project teams and clients.
Key Responsibilities:

1. Estimating and Cost Analysis:
   
   • Prepare detailed cost estimates for civil construction projects, including materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
   • Analyze project plans, specifications, and other documentation to develop accurate and competitive bids.
   • Break down project components into manageable work items and estimate costs for each element.
2. Bid Preparation:
   
   • Compile and submit comprehensive bid proposals, including supporting documentation and cost breakdowns.
   • Work with project managers and other stakeholders to develop bid strategies and ensure all client requirements are met.
   • Address any follow-up questions or requests for clarification from clients or stakeholders.
3. Quantity Takeoffs:
   
   • Perform detailed quantity takeoffs from plans and specifications to calculate material and labor requirements.
   • Ensure takeoffs are accurate and align with project scope and requirements.
4. Market Research and Vendor Coordination:
   
   • Research current market conditions, including material costs, labor rates, and equipment pricing.
   • Develop and maintain relationships with vendors and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing.
   • Solicit and evaluate quotes from suppliers and subcontractors for inclusion in estimates.
5. Risk Analysis and Value Engineering:
   
   • Identify potential risks and opportunities in project estimates and provide recommendations for cost-saving measures.
   • Suggest value engineering options to enhance project efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
6. Collaboration and Communication:
   
   • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment on project estimates.
   • Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and client presentations as required.
   • Provide ongoing support to project teams during project execution to ensure alignment with the original estimate.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
• 3-5 years of experience in civil estimating, preferably in construction or infrastructure projects.
• Strong knowledge of civil construction methods, materials, and equipment.
• Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., HCSS, Bluebeam, PlanSwift) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word).
• Excellent analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contracts.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
